Jimmie Johnson not only won his eighth grandfather clock, one of the most unique trophies in all of NASCAR, but he did so in dominant fashion.
Johnson, who started from the pole position, led 346 out of 500 laps, and never falling lower than than the fifth position all day. Also, with the win, Johnson retook the points lead for the championship, going up 6 points on last year's champ, Brad Keselowski.
With this win, it also gave Rick Hendrick twenty victories at Martinsville, breaking the tie between him and Richard Petty who owns Petty Enterprises.

How did the rest of Hendrick's Boys do...
Jeff Gordon- Gordon finished third, finally putting himself in the Top 12 in points. With this run, hopefully Gordon and his team can get some momentum going into the race at Texas Motor
Speedway.(via knownconcussion.org) |
Dale Earnhardt Jr- Junior finished 24 out of 43 drivers when he got caught up in an incident with rookie Danica Patrick and Brian Vickers.
This finally broke the streak of Top 10 finishes that Junior had going for him. Hopefully for Junior and his team, they can get back on track and start a new streak to keep themselves in the top 5 in points.( via espn.go.com) |
Kasey Kahne- Kahne finished in fourth at Martinsville, giving himself another top 5 finish. That finish helped Kahne put himself in the top 5 in points at fifth, being only thirty two points out.
